With Canada Day being yesterday (July 1st), it had me thinking about the amazing Canadian people I have met. This includes those who I met when I was a judge for Miss Grand Canada 2021.
The Miss Grand Canada 2021 pageant was held virtually over a span of three weeks. For those who followed the Miss Grand Canada 2021 pageant, you already know that there were many challenges the contestants had to complete (swimwear, evening gown, speech, etc.). With that being said, there were many late nights for both the contestants and the judges, but it was all worth it! My favorite part of judging the Miss Grand Canada pageant was interviewing the contestants. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to the ladies, hearing their stories, and seeing what makes each of them unique.
This rollercoaster of an experience was one that I never thought I would be on. I never thought I would one day judge a pageant, let alone a national pageant where the winner goes on and represents their country at one of the largest international pageants in the world! I have been a fan of the Miss Grand International pageant since the birth of the organization in 2013, so being able to play a part – even if it was small – in the history of the MGI Organization and Miss Grand Canada Organization was incredible.
Thank you to Michelle Weswaldi and everyone at the Miss Grand Canada Org. for placing your trust in me and welcoming this lifelong pageant fan with open arms. Another thank you goes out to all of the contestants for not only participating in this pageant, but for the laughs we have shared and the fond memories I have with you all. This was an experience I will never forget!
To Miss Grand Canada 2021 Olga Bykadorova, congratulations! You have worked so hard to win the national title, but your work is far from over. You will be heading to Thailand later this year with ‘Canada’ across your chest and the whole country, as well as pageant fans from abroad (including me), behind you. Use this as motivation to work two-times harder, so you can give Canada its first Miss Grand International crown. I am very proud of you, and I look forward to seeing where your reign takes you!
